This followed a high-level visit by NNPC Ltd’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, who led a management delegation to the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Lagos State.
During the visit, which featured a facility tour and executive discussions, both organisations focused on enhancing their operational and commercial relationship while reaffirming a shared vision for Nigeria’s energy future.
Ojulari praised the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for his resilience and foresight in delivering the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery, describing the project as transformative for Nigeria’s downstream sector and positioning the country as a major refining hub in Africa.
He described the renewed alliance as a partnership designed to “unlock synergies across assets, infrastructure, capital, and markets,” adding that it would also provide greater visibility into NNPC-Dangote business engagements.
According to Ojulari, the collaboration presents significant opportunities for expansion beyond refining, including upstream activities, trading, shipping, and gas supply.
The NNPC GCEO also expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policy clarity and investor-friendly reforms in the oil and gas sector, noting that the administration’s commitment to transformation has created an enabling environment for major partnerships.
Dangote, on his part, said Nigerians would be the ultimate beneficiaries of the strengthened relationship.
“Nigerians will gain from the synergy between Dangote Group and NNPC Ltd, as our collaboration will achieve economies of scale and unlock value across markets,” he stated.
Both parties concluded the engagement by reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation to ensure energy security, promote industrial growth, and deliver sustainable value to Nigerians.
NNPC Ltd currently holds a 7.25 per cent stake in the Dangote Refinery, an investment described as strategic and aligned with the national oil company’s downstream growth objectives and support for domestic refining capacity.
The statement was issued by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd, Abuja.
