In a landmark moment for African diplomacy, Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has joined Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima at the 2025 G20 Summit, currently underway in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to a press statement signed by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State, the two-day summit, held from November 22 to 23, marks the first time the G20 gathering of world leaders is hosted on African soil.
With the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” the event brings together heads of state and government from the world’s largest economies, representing over 85% of global GDP and two-thirds of the global population.
He said Governor Radda’s presence underscores Katsina State’s growing ambition to position itself as a strategic hub for international investment, technology exchange, and sustainable development. His participation is in line with the Building Your Future agenda, which prioritizes economic diversification and global partnerships.
The statement further noted that during the summit, Governor Radda is expected to engage with global leaders, investors, and development partners to explore collaborative opportunities in key sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, digital innovation, and manufacturing.
The Governor’s inclusion in the high-level delegation signals Nigeria’s intent to showcase regional leadership and unlock new avenues for growth across its federating states.
The G20 Summit continues to serve as a vital platform for shaping global economic policies and fostering inclusive development, with this year’s edition offering a unique opportunity for African voices to be heard at the highest level.
