The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has confirmed that containment measures have been successfully executed following a breach on a section of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) in South-West Warri, Delta State.
The incident, which was reported on Thursday, December 11, 2025, has been brought under control, with all affected pipeline sections safely and securely isolated to ensure the safety of host communities, personnel, and the environment.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NNPC Ltd disclosed that a joint preliminary inspection of the affected site was conducted by technical teams from the company, the Nigeria Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and maintenance contractors.
According to the company, the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), which operates the ELPS network, has activated its Business Continuity Plan to manage the impact of the incident on stakeholders, including gas shippers and suppliers.
NNPC Ltd reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open communication with host communities, state authorities, and other critical stakeholders, while appreciating their sustained cooperation and support.
The company further reiterated its dedication to the safety of host communities, environmental protection, and the reliability of its operations across all assets.
