The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced the successful restoration of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) to full operations following an explosion that occurred on December 10, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, made available to Enterprisenewsglobal ,the company said the incident happened in Warri, Delta State, and was met with an immediate emergency response. According to NNPC Ltd, coordinated containment measures were swiftly activated, while multidisciplinary technical teams were deployed to repair the damaged section of the pipeline.
The statement explained that the affected segment was thoroughly repaired, pressure-tested, and safely recommissioned, bringing the critical gas transportation infrastructure back into full operation.
NNPC Ltd described the restoration as a demonstration of its resilience and firm commitment to Nigeria’s energy security, noting that the pipeline was returned to service in record time without compromising safety or environmental standards.
The company also acknowledged the support of host communities, regulatory authorities, security agencies, as well as the dedication of its partners and staff, describing their collective efforts as instrumental to the successful outcome.
“As we move forward, NNPC Limited remains steadfast in its pledge to protect the environment, safeguard our communities, and maintain the integrity and reliability of our assets,” the statement said.
The Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System is a critical component of Nigeria’s gas infrastructure, supplying gas to power plants and industries across the country.
