The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has launched a nationwide health insurance scheme for more than 7,000 fuel station attendants to boost workers’ welfare and improve service delivery across its retail outlets.
The Attendants’ Health Insurance Scheme, rolled out by NNPC Retail Limited in partnership with NNPC HMO, was unveiled at the NNPC Mega Station in Abuja. Speaking at the launch, the Executive Director, Retail Operations and Mobility, Baba-Shettima Kukawa, who represented the Managing Director of NNPC Retail, described the initiative as a major milestone in uplifting frontline staff.
Kukawa emphasized that station attendants are the first point of contact with customers, noting that their well-being directly influences service quality. “We have developed a comprehensive ‘Attendant Framework’ focused on their welfare. As part of this, we are rolling out HMO coverage effective this month to ensure customer interactions reflect care, professionalism, and excellence,” he said.
Director of NNPC HMO, said the company is partnering with trusted healthcare providers nationwide to ensure beneficiaries have access to quality medical services. He added that good health is central to productivity and urged attendants to fully utilize the scheme.
A Customer Service Attendant at the Abuja Mega Station, Dorcas Luke Onyeche, commended NNPC Retail management for prioritizing staff welfare, stating that the scheme would enhance their confidence and motivation to deliver better service.
