The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has released its monthly performance report for December 2025, highlighting strong financial results and key operational milestones across the oil and gas sector.
Financial Performance
– Revenue: ₦60.5 trillion (January–December 2025)
– Profit After Tax: ₦5.76 trillion
– Statutory Payments: ₦14.7 trillion remitted to the Federation Account
Despite fluctuations in crude oil output, NNPC maintained profitability, underscoring its resilience amid global energy market volatility.
Production Figures
– Crude Oil & Condensate: Averaged 1.54 million barrels per day (mmbopd) in December, down from the year’s peak of 1.77 mmbopd.
– Natural Gas: Averaged 6,914 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) in December.
– Gas Sales: Closed the year at 4,754 mmscf/d, reflecting steady demand.
December’s production dipped slightly due to planned maintenance at Stardeep-Agbami and Renaissance-Estuary Area facilities, alongside unplanned outages.
Strategic Projects
– Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline: Mainline welding works successfully completed; final integration works ongoing.
– Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline: River Niger crossing completed with pilot hole drilling underway, keeping the project on schedule.
Both projects are expected to significantly boost Nigeria’s gas infrastructure and energy security.
Retail & Public Impact NNPC Retail Stations: PMS availability stood at 65% nationwide, reflecting improved supply chain efficiency. NNPC Foundation: Disbursed ₦531,000 each to 531 beneficiaries under its Youth Empowerment Programme in partnership with NYSC, aimed at reducing unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship.
The December 2025 report paints a picture of cautious optimism: while crude oil production faced operational setbacks, NNPC’s robust financials and progress on strategic gas pipelines signal a company positioning itself for long-term sustainability. The youth empowerment initiative further underscores NNPC’s role beyond energy, as a driver of socio-economic development.
