The Moshood Abiola National Stadium will come alive this Sunday, November 30, 2025, as NNPC Limited kicks off its 14th Sports Fiesta a vibrant showcase of athleticism, teamwork, and corporate pride. The week-long tournament, themed “Energy In Motion: Compete, Connect & Celebrate,” is more than just a sporting event; it’s a strategic build-up to the 20th Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) slated for February 2026.
With 450 athletes from across the company’s six operational zones, the fiesta underscores NNPC Ltd’s commitment to employee wellness and organizational excellence. Teams will represent the company’s core values:- Team Integrity (Port Harcourt/Benin), Team Excellence (Lagos/Warri), Team Sustainability (Abuja/Kaduna)
Over seven days, staff will battle it out in 13 competitive sports including football, basketball, volleyball, chess, squash, scrabble, 8-ball pool, golf, tennis, table tennis, badminton, swimming, and athletics. The grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025.
Beyond the medals and camaraderie, the fiesta serves a strategic purpose: scouting top talent to represent NNPC Ltd at NOGIG 2026, where the company aims to defend its long-standing title as the overall champion. At the last edition in 2024, NNPC Ltd dominated the field, clinching 50 medals, 20 gold, 9 silver, and 21 bronze, outshining competitors from International Oil Companies (IOCs) and key agencies under the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
As the countdown begins, all eyes are on NNPC Ltd not just to host a thrilling fiesta, but to reaffirm its status as the powerhouse of corporate sports in Nigeria’s energy sector.
