NNPC Limited has reported a Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₦535 billion for June 2026, representing a 15.8 per cent increase from the ₦462 billion recorded in May, underscoring the company’s sustained financial performance despite slight declines in crude oil production.
The figures are contained in the company’s Monthly Financial and Operations Report for June 2026, which also highlights steady revenue growth, increased statutory contributions to the Federation, rising natural gas production, and continued progress on strategic gas infrastructure projects.
According to the report, total revenue for June stood at ₦4.389 trillion, reflecting the company’s continued ability to generate strong earnings across its operations.
The report further disclosed that cumulative statutory payments to the Federation between January and June 2026 reached ₦6.286 trillion, reaffirming NNPC Limited’s significant contribution to Nigeria’s public finances and national economic development.
While financial performance strengthened, average crude oil and condensate production experienced a marginal decline to 1.72 million barrels per day (mmbopd) from 1.73 million barrels per day recorded in May.
NNPC attributed the slight reduction to operational disruptions, facility integrity challenges and subsurface issues affecting a number of producing assets.
However, the company recorded improved performance in the gas sector, with average natural gas production increasing to 7.841 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) from 7.774 mmscf/d in May, representing a 0.86 per cent increase.
The development reinforces NNPC Limited’s strategic commitment to expanding domestic gas utilisation as Nigeria pursues its Decade of Gas initiative and broader energy transition objectives.
The report also highlighted continued progress on two of the country’s flagship gas infrastructure projects.
According to NNPC Ltd., the Obiafu–Obrikom–Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline has reached 98 per cent completion, with final tie-in activities currently underway ahead of the planned First Gas delivery in August 2026.
Similarly, construction and installation works on the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline advanced to 94 per cent completion, supporting the company’s target of commencing early gas supply to Abuja later this year.
The progress on both projects is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s domestic gas transportation network, improve energy security, support industrial growth and expand access to cleaner energy for businesses and households.
The June performance reflects NNPC Limited’s continued focus on operational efficiency, revenue generation and strategic infrastructure delivery, even as it navigates production challenges within parts of the upstream sector.
Industry observers note that sustained profitability, rising gas output and steady advancement of critical pipeline projects remain key indicators of the company’s evolving role as a commercially driven national energy company while supporting Nigeria’s broader economic development agenda.
