The Chairman, Board of Kaduna State Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development (KIVTSD), Mrs. Esther Bago, has pledged the board’s commitment to working closely with the management in moving the institute to greater heights.
Mrs. Bago stated this during the board’s inaugural meeting with management at the Rigachikun campus.
“We are ready as a new board to work closely with the management in taking the institute to the desired height,” she said, thanking Governor Uba Sani for the appointment.
The Provost, Alhaji Husaini Haruna Muhammed, said the institute which has three campuses across the three zones, graduated 4,050 learners in August, with each given N200,000 start-up grant.
He also appealed for more budgetary provision to complement the huge number of learners and contract staff at the institute.
“Some of the learners came from very far places during the last cohort and consumables is what consumed most of the funds we receive,” He said.
Deputy Provosts of Samarun Kataf and Soba, Mrs. Phoebe Yayi Sukai and Dr. Ahmed Usman, commended the State Governor for selecting competent people as board members noting that some of the projects in the 3 Campuses are yet to be completed and handed over by the contractors.
ALGON representative, Hon. Dauda Madaki, said the institute would create jobs, tackle unemployment and improve security in Kaduna State.
The meeting ended with a tour of workshops and facilities.
