Seplat Energy Plc, a joint venture partner of NNPC Ltd and a key supplier of gas into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network, has announced that it will carry out routine maintenance on its gas production facilities from February 12 to 15, 2026.
This was contained in a press release signed by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd and made available to Newsmen in Abuja.
The company explained that the planned exercise is part of standard industry safety and asset integrity protocols aimed at ensuring continued reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of critical gas infrastructure.
According to the statement, officials also emphasized that periodic maintenance of this nature is essential to sustain optimal system performance, strengthen operational resilience, and minimize the risk of unplanned outages.
During the four-day period, gas supply into the NGIC pipeline network will be temporarily reduced. Industry sources note that some power generation companies dependent on this supply may experience lower gas availability, which could modestly affect electricity generation levels.
NNPC Ltd and Seplat Energy assured the public that they are working closely to ensure the maintenance is executed safely and completed on schedule. Meanwhile, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative gas suppliers to cushion the impact and maintain stability across the network.
Upon completion of the exercise, full gas supply into the NGIC system is expected to resume promptly, allowing affected power generation companies to return to normal operations and further updates will be provided as necessary.
