The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kaduna State is grappling with 49 disputes from it’s primary elections, amid allegations of voter exclusion, hijacked materials, and fraudulent results.
In the Governorship primary elections, Conflicting declarations naming Isa Ashiru and later Shuaibu Idris Mikati have deepened uncertainty within the party, with aggrieved aspirants describing the process as “concocted” and “a total fraud.”
This development has thrown the opposition party into uncertainty and raised fresh questions over the conduct and outcome of its governorship primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political observers are of the opinion that this development could open a new chapter of legal and political battles unless the party leadership quickly moves to resolve the dispute.
Mallam Jafaru Sani who emerged second in the disputed primaries, has since been recognised across the 23 Local Government Areas as a unifying figure with proven governance experience.
As the coalition party’s National vice chairman for the northwest region, he has demonstrated consistent leadership, integrity and commitment to the party’s ideals.
According to the generality of the masses, Jafaru Sani remains the most acceptable, marketable and widely supported aspirant capable of guaranteeing victory for the ADC in Kaduna State.
Being the first Aspirant to challenge the outcome of the primary elections in the court, he had proven his ability at defending the party’s internal democracy. He distinguished himself from others because his backing remains largely across the State.
Amid the crisis, supporters are rallying behind Mallam Jafaru Sani, as the most credible candidate to restore unity. He commands genuine grassroots support across all the 3 zones within the 23 LGAs which is needed to win any election.
Supporters cite Sani’s governance experience, integrity, and wide acceptance among ordinary members as key assets less than seven months to the 2027 elections.
If these cases are not resolved as soon as possible for peace and unity to reign in the party it stands to lose its support from the electorates.
Similar to the Governorship race, several local and state constituency primaries were contested in places like Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Birningwari and Giwa, Ikara and Kubau among others.
Aggrieved members alleged that they were deliberately excluded and that predetermined candidates were imposed.
It is generally believed that the internal crises were complicated by the absence of state party leader and former Governor Nasir El-Rufai,who was detained by ICPC and is facing what many believe is a political trial.
At this point a fair and unbiased decision is necessary to protect the credibility and integrity of the party’s nomination process.
