The campaign organisation of Hon. Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani has strongly condemned the alleged conduct of the All Progressives Congress primary election for Kaduna Central Senatorial District, declaring that no election took place across the zone’s seven local government areas.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kaduna, Deputy Director General Dr. Cafra Caino said party faithfuls gathered at their ward polling units and waited for hours without election officials or materials arriving. He stated that the process fell short of all procedures and standards set by the APC National Working Committee, describing it as a failure of internal democracy.
The council noted that the purported announcement of results raised serious questions about the integrity of the exercise and could not reflect the will of APC members in the zone. It therefore rejected the outcome and called on the NWC, the party’s Electoral Committee for Kaduna State, and other relevant organs to investigate the irregularities.
The statement urged the party leadership to address the flawed process and ensure redress in line with party guidelines and democratic principles. The council insisted that primaries should strengthen cohesion within the APC, not undermine it.
Earlier in an interview with newsmen, Hon. Yusuf Zailani appreciated the massive turnout of his supporters and urged them to remain calm and law-abiding.
He commended their peaceful conduct despite the disruption and said their loyalty had reaffirmed the strength of the movement across the seven LGAs.
The former Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly expressed confidence that the APC leadership would act swiftly to protect the integrity of the party and restore faith in its democratic processes. He added that the campaign would pursue redress strictly through constitutional and party mechanisms.
The campaign council said it remains committed to inclusive leadership and grassroots representation, and would not stand by while the will of the people is subverted.
It is however the general belief and opinions of stakeholders that if the right candidate is not presented the APC will surely loose the elections come 2027.
