Hon. Alli Afeez Olasunkanmi, the governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State come 2027, has pledged to place health, education, and the empowerment of women and youth at the heart of his administration if elected.
Speaking after his screening at the ADC secretariat in Abuja, Olasunkanmi expressed confidence in the party’s growing acceptance among Nigerians, describing it as a vehicle for the long-awaited transformation Lagosians have been yearning for. He maintained that despite the dominance of the APC-led Federal Government in Lagos, the ADC stands poised to clinch victory if he emerges as its candidate.
“Our campaign is rooted in the grassroots. We will bridge the gap in the basic needs of the people by ensuring that every Lagosian feels the impact of governance,” he declared.
For the youths and women of Lagos, Afeez Olasunkanmi promised to create an enabling environment where both skilled and unskilled citizens can earn a legitimate livelihood. He emphasized that his campaign will adopt a door-to-door strategy, directly engaging communities across the state.
On infrastructure and economic development, the aspirant vowed to tackle challenges in housing, education, healthcare, and transportation. He pledged to strengthen public institutions so that citizens would no longer feel compelled to seek education abroad or travel overseas for medical care.
“My children are in public schools in Lagos. I will ensure that we fix everything so that the children of both the rich and the poor can be comfortable in our public schools and hospitals,” he affirmed.
Coming from a politically grounded family, Olasunkanmi urged Nigerian youths to rise, shine, and take up the mantle of leadership. “The time has come for the younger generation to step forward and shape the destiny of this nation,” he said.
As a youth, with years of experience in politics, the governorship hopeful has been described as the people’s choice for a new Lagos that can be compared to cities like Dubai.
