A key political ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Honourable Kamaludeen Skeedo, popularly known as Garkuwan Matasa, has declared that “there is no place for party politics” as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections.

Skeedo, who recently regained freedom after being detained by the Kaduna State Government over his opposition to the administration of Governor Uba Sani, spoke on June 30, 2027.
He argued that with the current structure of the ADC, both at the presidential level and across Northern states, especially Kaduna, the party cannot win elections without major reforms.
“With the way the ADC is operating right now, Atiku Abubakar cannot win unless there are changes. If there are no corrections, then it will clearly be Dana Sani,” Skeedo said, referencing Governor Uba Sani’s political base.
Despite being one of the vocal critics of the Uba Sani administration, Skeedo said his opposition was not driven by personal animosity. He acknowledged that the governor was making efforts in some areas that were visibly yielding results.
“The government of Malam Uba Sani is trying in certain things which I can see clearly, even though the government detained me because I was in opposition to it,” he stated.
Skeedo said he would continue to urge the Kaduna government to correct its mistakes so that residents of the state can enjoy peace and development. He insisted that his criticism was aimed at ensuring better treatment for Kaduna youths, not at undermining the governor personally.
“If I get the opportunity, I will give Governor Malam Uba Sani special advice for the progress of Kaduna State, because the development of the state is my priority,” he added.
He stressed that his opposition to the government was not out of hatred, but to push for reforms and improved welfare for the people of Kaduna, particularly young people.
Skeedo is regarded as one of the leading youth mobilisers for Atiku Abubakar in Kaduna and a significant voice within the ADC’s structure in the state.
