The Executive Chairman of Abaji Area Council and Chairman-elect of the Abuja Area Councils (AAC), Honourable Abubakar Umar Abdullahi (AUA), has officially declared his intention to contest for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senatorial Seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
AUA made the declaration on Friday during a meeting with APC Local Government Executives and Ward Executives of Bwari Area Council, where he also submitted his letter of intent ahead of the party’s primary election scheduled for May 20, 2026.
The gathering witnessed the presence of party stakeholders and supporters who welcomed the aspirant and his entourage.
Speaking at the event, the APC Chairman in Bwari Area Council, Honourable Ali Shere, alongside Honourable Shekwolo Audi, commended the Abaji Area Council Chairman for what they described as impactful leadership and infrastructural development in Abaji Area Council.
Honourable Shekwolo Audi stated that AUA’s administration had delivered quality governance that benefited not only the people of Abaji but the entire FCT.
He also dismissed criticisms against the aspirant, saying leadership and political victory were determined by the will of God and the people, not intimidation or political influence.
According to him, “Power belongs to Almighty God and not to any individual who assumes the position of God through oppression and intimidation.”
In his remarks, Honourable Abubakar Umar Abdullahi expressed appreciation to the APC leadership and supporters in Bwari Area Council for the warm reception accorded him.
He described the turnout as overwhelming and commended Honourable Shekwolo Audi for demonstrating strong grassroots political support.
“I, Honourable Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, am officially here to declare my intention to contest for the FCT Senatorial Seat,” he declared.
The senatorial aspirant stressed the importance of grassroots politics, noting that political success could only be achieved through hard work and direct engagement with the people.
He urged party members to safeguard their membership cards in preparation for the APC primary election.
AUA also promised quality representation for the FCT if elected, pledging to attract large-scale developmental projects rather than what he described as “token projects.”
According to him, the FCT deserves impactful representation capable of delivering meaningful infrastructure and development projects for residents.
He further maintained that fairness and the will of party members should guide the forthcoming primary election.
The declaration event ended with supporters expressing confidence in the aspirant’s chances ahead of the APC senatorial primaries.
