Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant, a former Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor on Power and Political Affairs, has officially declared his intention to contest the Kebbi Central Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC). His announcement sets the stage for a direct challenge against the incumbent, Senator Adamu Aliero.
Speaking via WhatsApp, Kabiru emphasized that although he has long been active in politics, his role has primarily been to support others in securing positions. This time, he said, he is stepping forward himself to “salvage Kebbi Central.”
Kabiru’s ambition is to end what he described as decades of political dominance by Senator Aliero, should he succeed in the APC primaries. He urged constituents to embrace change through the ballot, stressing the need for fresh energy in legislative representation.
“The time is now to change the baton and return legislative duties to young and energetic politicians in Kebbi State,” he declared.
His entry into the race has heightened political tension in Kebbi, as the APC braces for fiercely contested primaries with both seasoned politicians and new aspirants vying for various elective positions.
