Action was full of steam on Day Two of the ongoing Third Edition, Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League on Tuesday June 16 at the Indoor Hall of the National Stadium, Abuja.
From the blast of the whistle, sound of spiking reigned on both courts, set up for male and female games simultaneously.
What can be termed the match of the day, was a fierce battle between female teams, Excelsior squaring up with Anambra Queens, a game that lasted five sets, running into hours of play.
That game was later decided in the fifth set, 2-3, after the ladies from both teams, sweat it out, trying to outplay each other.
The first set ended 25-21, second, 20-25, third, 25-22, fourth, 23-25 and fifth 14-16.
In another female, Nigeria Customs Service spanked VIP & Partner 3-0.
The first set, 25-20 while 25-11 and 25-20 were played in other sets respectively.
Similarly, CNS Spikers humiliated Fire Service 3-0, ( 25-8, 25-15, 25-14).
In the men’s fixture, Ajase Ipo put up a good fight after coming from behind, but succumbed to the firing powers of NSCDC 2-3 in a ln epic five set piece.
They lost first set while warning into the game 16-25, they improved in the second set, which ended 23-25.
Ajase Ipo”s confidence was boosted in the third set, claiming it 25-21, just as they repeated same brilliant performance in the fourth which ended 25-21.
The fifth set was dramatic as both teams fought hard to claim victory, with the game witnessing several match points, Ajase Ipo had the first chance, losing it to a lost service, before NSCDC sealed it at 17-19.
In the game between COAS Spikers versus Offa, the Army boys wasted no time in neutralizing their opponents 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-20).
It took decisive action in four sets for Defence Spikers to claim victory over Life Camp VC by 3-1.
The first set ended 25-18, second, 25-27, third, 25-17 and 30-28 was the scores of the fourth set.
