A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State and aspirant for the Zamfara North Senatorial District, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resist all attempts to militarise the forthcoming APC primary elections in Zamfara State.
Speaking during the screening exercise for aspirants in Abuja, Shinkafi stressed that the Shinkafi area has never produced a senator in the past 28 years, despite its significant contributions to the state. He lamented that the current senator, who is over 70 years old, has failed to bring any meaningful development to the district.
Shinkafi, who is younger, highly qualified and a PhD holder emphasized that the people of Zamfara North deserve fresh, dynamic leadership that can deliver real progress. He warned strongly against the imposition of candidates by force, insisting that the people will reject any imposed candidate.
“As an advocate of direct primaries, I believe consensus arrangements will only bring divisions to the party. The APC must allow the people to freely choose their representative. Any attempt to impose a candidate will not only fail but will also weaken the unity of our great party,” Shinkafi declared.
